LOS ANGELES—Cleanup crews cleared a homeless encampment early Tuesday morning, Jan. 25, at the Century Boulevard underpass entrance ramp to the 405 North Freeway, removing dozens of tents, carts, barbecue pits, bags, and other items with a dumpster truck.
The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans)—the department that owns the land and conducted the cleanup—cleared the encampment because it presented a “fire safety issue,” according to a CalTrans spokesperson.
