Graco has recalled one of its infant car seats after the company said testing uncovered a “structural issue.”

Post-production laboratory testing showed an unspecified issue with the structure of the SnugRide Turn & Slide car seats sold from January through March at Amazon, Babylist, Target, and Walmart, as well as GracoBaby.com, Graco said in a statement.

Graco did not respond to a request for more information on the issue it uncovered.

“We know parents rely on Graco products every day, and we understand this may create frustration and disruption for families,” Graco said. “We are working quickly to support affected families and will provide a replacement product at no cost.”

The recall covers several different products:
  • SnugRide® Turn & Slide rotating infant car seats with the following model numbers: 2231806, 2231809, 2231881, 2231884, 2231885, 2231887.
  • SnugRide® Turn & Slide Rotating Infant Car Seat Base with the model number 2231810.
  • Modes Nest Travel System with SnugRide® Turn & Slide ICS with the model number 2243083, although the stroller that is part of the system is not affected.
Other Graco rotating car seats, such as the EasyTurn and Turn2Me, are not impacted by the recall.
People can find the model number on the label on their products. They can enter the model number and serial number on the Graco website to confirm whether their products have been recalled.

If people own any of the recalled products, they should stop using the seats with the base, according to Graco.

“The current seat may continue to be used without the base in accordance with the product instructions while you wait for your selected replacement product,” Graco stated.

Consumers are being told not to return the products to stores.

After removing the seat from the base and locating the label on the base that shows the relevant information, such as the model number, people should take and upload a clear photograph of the label to be eligible for a replacement, the company said.

The last step would be completing a registration form and checking the preferred replacement option.

“Once you have received confirmation that your product is included in the recall and you have received the replacement, you may dispose of the affected product,” Graco said.

The replacement options for infant car seats are two different styles of SnugRide seats and bases. The replacement options for toddler seats are the EasyTurn Solae and the Turn2Me Brighton.

If people register only a base-only product, they will receive only a SnugRide SnugFit base.
