Former U.S. Rep. Katie Porter announced on March 11 her bid to become California’s next governor in a tough-talking video criticizing President Donald Trump.

“What California needs now is a little bit of hope and a whole lot of grit,” Porter wrote with the video in the post on X announcing her candidacy for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
