A 24-year-old man has been accused of attempted murder after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Florida home, pistol-whipped her new boyfriend, and fired a shot in the home, authorities said in a statement.
Ashton Churchwell was taken into custody on Oct. 23 by Volusia County sheriff’s deputies after he fled his ex-girlfriend’s home in DeLand the day before. Authorities said they were able to make the arrest due to a tip from a member of the public.
