A swath of thunderstorms is expected to bring heavy rain and the threat of flash-flooding to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states on Thursday and Friday.

According to a map and data released by the National Weather Service’s (NWS’s) Weather Prediction Center, a Level 3 out of 4 risk for excessive rainfall from northeastern Virginia to New Jersey was forecast for Thursday. That includes cities including New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, and Newark in New Jersey.
