The first victim of the Florida school shooting on Wednesday, Feb. 14 was identified as Jamie Guttenberg, a student at the high school.
Fred and Jennifer Guttenberg, the parents, said that their son Jesse, also a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, made it home safely.
Nikolas Cruz, a former student, was identified by law enforcement officials as the shooter at the school.
Cruz opened fire, killing 17 people and leaving others wounded.
Feis is credited with saving lives by placing himself between the shooter and students, shielding them from bullets while being shot multiple times.
Feis was rushed to the hospital but ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
Cruz was later arrested.
He had been expelled from the school after being identified as a threat last year, and was attending another school at the time of the shooting.
He was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder on Thursday.
Police officers said he was armed with an AR-15-style rifle before he surrendered to officers.
