U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who is overseeing one of the four criminal cases against former President Donald Trump, has scheduled a hearing on June 21 to address the lawfulness of special counsel Jack Smith’s appointment.

The parties will argue on President Trump’s motion to dismiss the indictment based on the unlawful appointment of the special counsel. As the judge previously indicated, amici including experts who advanced this legal theory will be allowed to participate in the hearing.
