An FBI agent said alleged ransom notes contained a Thursday deadline for the safe return of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, who disappeared from her Arizona home over the weekend.

Heith Janke, the FBI special agent in charge for Phoenix, said on Feb. 5 that the notes had a deadline of 5 p.m. local time on Thursday and if that was not met, a second deadline was set for Feb. 9.
