LOS ANGELES—Relatives of a Hawaii woman who went missing after arriving at Los Angeles International Airport and who police say voluntarily crossed into Mexico are investigating the possibility she may have been involved in an immigration marriage scam.
Following media reports on the issue, citing unnamed sources, the family of 30-year-old Hannah Kobayashi said in a statement posted online Wednesday that it had not publicly released any information about a possible marriage “because we did not have the facts or the necessary documents to verify the legitimacy of this information.”
