Family members are shocked that a 2-year-old is dead after his mother, who admitted to killing him, appeared in court following her arrest.
“I would’ve never thought in a million years that I would be hearing about my sister is a murderer,” Danielle Stinson, sister of accused killer Charisse Stinson, told Bay News 9. “Not just somebody on the streets. She killed her own flesh and blood.”

A number of family members of Stinson, 21, and Jordan Belliveau, the 2-year-old found dead in a wooded area in Largo, Florida on Sept. 4, attended a community gathering late on Sept. 6, in Largo.

Danielle and Charisse are two of seven siblings, and the pair is close, Danielle Stinson said.

She said that her sister told her family Jordan had been abducted, as she told investigators initially.

Danielle Stinson said she doesn’t know how the death could have been prevented.

“He’s gone, that’s it. You can’t help but to blame yourself like she could’ve called me. She should’ve said something,” she said.

“We have the same mom, same dad. We grew up in the same house. I would have never thought that she would do something like this or these thoughts would have ever ran through her mind or she was even capable of something like this. You know?”

Charisse Stinson, 21, was arrested on Sept. 4, 2018 and faces a first-degree murder charge after admitting to the police that she caused the death of her son, 2-year-old Jordan Belliveau. The mugshot is from an April 2017 arrest. (Pinellas County Sheriff's Office)

Confession, Court Appearance

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by WFTS, Charisse Stinson admitted to causing her son’s death.

Stinson said she was upset and struck Jordan in the face with the back of her hand “which in turn caused the back of his head to strike an interior wall of her home.”

“After the blow to the head, the victim suffered seizures during the night, which lead to further decline [in his health], resulting in his death,” the affidavit stated.

Instead of seeking medical help for her son, Stinson dumped his body in the woods.

A judge on Sept. 5, ordered no bond after Stinson was charged with aggravated child abuse and first-degree murder, reported Bay News 9.

“She doesn’t deserve a bond,” the boy’s grandmother Jessica Belliveau said. “Why should she be given a chance? My grandson wasn’t given a chance.”

Government Reports Detail Living Situation

After the court appearance, government reports authored by child protective investigators emerged. The investigators had probed the living situation for the child just three months after he was born, after his father, an alleged gang member, was shot in his driveway. A police officer told investigators he had been to the house several times to respond to various complaints.
“The parents knowingly allow their infant son to reside in a dangerous environment,” the investigator’s report stated, reported the Tampa Bay Times.

The infant was eventually placed into foster care, but investigators had to intervene again after the baby, then 10-months-old, was punched during a scuffle during an unsupervised visit on Father’s Day in 2017 at Burger King.

In April, child welfare workers inspected Stinson’s house and approved returning the baby to his mother. The child’s guardian ad litem raised objections but the magistrate overruled them and placed Jordan back into the family home. The guardian said that the last time investigators visited the house, one day before the death, Stinson refused to let them inside.
