Family Tour of Sherman Gardens

Bring the family for a day of discovery into the garden’s vast array of unique plants, interesting exhibits, and wildlife. Pageant of the Masters Open Casting Call

The Pageant of the Masters is looking for men, women, and children to volunteer for next summer’s production, “Art Colony: In the Company of Artists.” People of all sizes and ages are needed to be cast members in the world’s most famous presentation of “tableaux vivants,” where live subjects are dressed and painted to appear exactly as originals from famous works of art, which will then be presented in a live show for thousands of spectators.

No theater experience is necessary. Pageant volunteers are also needed for behind-the-scenes roles including the wardrobe, make-up, and headdress departments, as well as cast area coordinators and refreshment servers, among other positions.

Drop-In Family Art Inventions

The Bowers Kidseum is offering free art classes for children ages four and up, accompanied by parents or grandparents where they will be learning how to create innovative and unique cultural art projects to take home. Families are encouraged to participate and learn alongside their children.

Hot Rods at the Beach

Residents of all ages are invited to enjoy unique vintage and classic cars at Seal Beach’s Glory Days Beachside Grill this weekend. Attendees at this event are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, during which time they can socialize with some of the biggest car enthusiasts in the county. Coffee and other treats will also be available for purchase.

Huntington Beach Scavenger Hunt

Families and friends are invited to join an interactive scavenger hunt in Surf City this weekend. Guided by any smartphone, groups will make their way along well-known and overlooked sites of this beach town where they will solve clues and complete challenges while learning local history. Hidden gems from the hunt include the International Surfing Museum, the pier, and historic buildings hidden in plain sight.

The tour requires just over one mile of walking. Using a smartphone as “the guide” allows participants to start when they want and determine their own pace of play.
