The Elon Musk-backed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said in a recent update that it has now helped save $165 billion, amounting to more than $1,000 per taxpayer.

In an update on May 3, DOGE said that the savings have come via a combination of asset sales, contract or lease cancellations, terminations of fraudulent or improper payments, grant cancellations, regulatory savings, workforce reductions, and more.
