A Continuing Resolution (CR) was passed by the House on Nov. 19 to give Congress more time to fully fund the federal government for 2020. Democrats and Republicans agreed that this is a short term measure to avert a government shut down and give lawmakers more time for negotiations.

The Senate is expected to follow before the expiration of the existing stopgap law on Thursday.
