A childcare worker who watched children inside of her home in Maryland for 10 years has been arrested for allegedly beating a child.

Christina Dhanaraj was arrested by police in Silver Spring after officers received a video from a source showing the woman abusing the child.

The video starts with the victim sitting in a room inside Dhanaraj’s home when the suspect approaches the child and yells at her.

Dhanaraj then slaps the child eight times, and when she begins to cry, pushes her to the floor, grabs her by the head, and pushes her with force, according to a statement from Montgomery County Police.

Officers who confronted Dhanaraj says she admitted to committing the abuse caught on camera, and she has been released. Her childcare provider license has been revoked.

The victim in the video was two years old and had been enrolled in Dhanaraj’s daycare since June 2015.

Detectives believe the footage is from November or December in 2017.

A police department spokeswoman told Bethesda Magazine that the footage was produced by an adult who was in the home at the time.

“They saw the abuse, videotaped it and came forward to police,” she said.

According to Dhanaraj’s page on Daycare.com, she served children from 0 to 12 years of age through her home care.

Anyone with information about possible abuse during the decade that Dhanaraj was caring for children is urged to call the Montgomery County Police Department’s Special Victims Investigations Division at (240) 773-5400.
