MIDDLETOWN, N.Y.—The America the Beautiful Festival brought people from Orange County and its neighbors to the Port Jervis area on June 13 and 14 to celebrate the semiquincentennial of our nation.

The festival took place at New Century, an event ground in the area between the hamlet of Huguenot and the City of Port Jervis. It is a historical part of New York, where earlier settlers built fortifications and settlements, and it was the location of several raids and the Battle of Minisink during the Revolutionary War.
