California Bill to Give Inmate Firefighters a Raise Moves Forward

The bill would bump inmate firefighter pay to a minimum of $19 per hour.

A state bill that would raise the hourly pay for firefighting inmates in California has passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee.

Assembly Bill 247, introduced by Assemblyman Isaac Bryan, passed in the committee with bipartisan support on March 11.
