UPDATE: A spokesperson for the U.S. Marine base in Twentynine Palms said a suspect is now in custody.
The suspect, identified as a Marine, was transported to a Palm Springs hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a two-hour interaction with police, spokesperson Nicole Plymale told The Desert Sun.
