LOS ANGELES—An 8-year-old girl who was critically injured when an SUV slammed into a bus stop in South Los Angeles on Thanksgiving, killing the girl’s mother, died Nov. 28, police said.

The unidentified girl and her mother were at a bus stop around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1700 block of West 83rd Street, just east of Western Avenue and several blocks south of Florence Avenue, when an SUV went onto the sidewalk and struck them, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAPD).

The child and her mother were both taken to hospitals with critical injuries. The mother died later that day.

Los Angeles Police Department media relations confirmed to City News Service that the girl died Tuesday.

ABC7 reported that a sedan was pulling out of a parking lot on the day of the crash when it was struck by the speeding SUV, which then careened into the bus stop. One of the drivers was also taken to a hospital with critical injuries.

As of Tuesday, no arrests had been made in connection with the crash, according to the LAPD.
