A dense “superfog” of marsh-fire smoke and fog in Louisiana led to a pileup of 158 vehicles just west of New Orleans on Oct. 23. Seven people were killed and at least 25 injured, while the pileup left a string of crumpled and charred vehicles on a bridge over Lake Maurepas, State officials said.
