The secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in a recent interview that the department found that 500,000 people are registered twice for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and that more than 5,000 deceased people have also been receiving the benefits.
In an interview on Nov. 12 with Fox News, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said that SNAP is one of the “most corrupt, dysfunctional programs” in U.S. history. She said that 80 percent of people using the program are able to work and cited the investigation that found that thousands of people are registered twice in the program.
