MOUNT HOPE, N.Y.—Orange County first responders were able to quickly rescue two people after their plane made an emergency landing on the Hudson River near the city of Newburgh in March thanks to a 2025 training exercise that focused on a similar scenario, the emergency services chief and county executive said.
“By practicing in advance, our first responders at the 911 Center and Emergency Operations Center knew exactly what their roles and responsibilities were on March 2,” Orange County Emergency Services Commissioner Peter Cirigliano told The Epoch Times on March 9.
