Retailer Urban Outfitters Inc. reported record fourth-quarter earnings on Thursday, a 92 percent increase from the same period last year, the company said.
Urban Outfitters, which runs Anthropologie, Free People, as well as its namesake retail stores, has performed well despite the recession as consumers responded well to the company’s “bohemian” fashion style.
The company’s revenues and earnings both topped analysts’ estimates.
“The sales and profit trend improved in each quarter throughout 2009,” said Glen T. Senk, company CEO, in a statement.
“Our team continued to exhibit exceptional discipline in managing expenses while simultaneously making strategic investments.”
