What looked like a piece of trash being thrown out of a multi-story apartment in coastal China actually turned out to be a newborn child in a plastic garbage bag.

The Zhejiang Radio and Television Group reported March 21 that the incident happened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

Channel 6 of Zhejiang Radio and Television Group reported Report on March 21 that the baby was already dead when discovered by residents.

Mr. Lu, a neighbor, heard a loud noise from outside when he was cooking in his flat, he told the media. The unclothed baby was covered in blood and its umbilical cord was not even completely removed. The sound was the tied plastic bag bursting as it hit the ground.

The infant’s gender was not specified. “The baby must have been born today or yesterday,” Lu said.

Suspect in the case is a woman surnamed Fang. She is confirmed to be the child’s mother, Qianjiang Evening News reported. Though she has been married for many years without children, residents say that he has been seeing another man.

Furthermore, the Zhejiang’s Xinhua Hospital said that Fang received emergency care on March 18 and was accompanied by a man. The doctor found the remains of a placenta as well as blood in her uterus, and declined to answer when asked if she had recently given birth.

On the day of the incident, Fang had been absent from the hospital, where she was staying, then returned later in the day without any notification.
