At just 9 years of age and a fourth grader, basketball phenom Jaden Newman is already playing on her school’s high school varsity team, where she is flourishing with averages of 14.8 points and 7.5 assists.

If that’s not impressive enough already, according to Cam Smith of USA Today (via The Indianapolis Star), Jade received her first college recruiting letter from the University of Miami in early June.

The recruiting process reportedly began when Miami assistant coach Derrick Gibbs made a phone call to Jaden’s father and coach: Jamie Newman. Jaden then formally visited the University of Miami on June 9th, where she was given a tour of the facilities.

Unfortunately for the “U”, Smith notes that Jade has said that she dreams of playing for the University of Connecticut— considered the top woman’s basketball program.

Looks like there may be some major competition among colleges for this kid down the road.

And actually, Jaden isn’t the only one in the family who can ball. Below is a highlight video of Jaden’s older brother Julian Newman — another basketball phenom. Are we perhaps looking at the future’s best brother and sister combo in sports?
