There were shots fired at the University of Houston in Texas on Friday during a reported armored car heist.

KHOU reported that the assailants tried to rob the armored car near the school’s University Center during the morning.

The armored car was making a pickup when the incident took place, police said.

After the heist, three suspects fled the scene in a red truck and it was later abandoned.

There were no injuries during the shooting.

The FBI and the local police department are investigating.

The university sent out an alert.

“A full-scale police investigation is under way following the robbery of an armored car making a pickup Friday morning in front of the University Center on the University of Houston campus,” it reads. “Shots were fired, according to University of Houston police, but no one was injured in the incident, which took place shortly before 8 a.m.”

“Police have confirmed that three suspects fled the campus in a red pickup truck, which they abandoned at the Planned Parenthood Center for Choice, 4600 Gulf Freeway.”
