Unemployment Drops in 38 States in May Amid Lifting Lockdowns

Unemployment fell in most states in May as lockdowns lifted and reopened businesses started to bring back millions of workers faster than some economists predicted.

The most recent figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that unemployment rates were lower in May in 38 states and the District of Columbia, higher in three states, and remained unchanged in nine states.
