Under the Dome season 2 is set to premiere on CBS on Monday, June 30.

Prior to the return, there will be a special on Monday, June 24 called “Inside Chester Mill.”

The one-hour special, which starts at 10 p.m. EDT, features a look back at the first season as well as a look ahead at the second season.

Cast members and executive producers will give hints as to what lies ahead for the residents of Chester’s Mill, who are still trapped under the mysterious dome.

The description for episode 1 has been released. It’s titled “Heads Will Roll.”

“Barbie’s fate lies in Big Jim’s hands, and the Dome presents a new threat when it becomes magnetized,” it says.

“Meanwhile, Julia seeks out the help of a stranger to save the life of a mysterious girl who may hold clues to origin of the Dome.”

Season 2 has 13 episodes.

The season will include a cameo from Stephen King, who wrote the season premiere.

“It was fantastic to work directly with Stephen. He’s been a real hero of mine and now I get to work with him,” executive producer Neal Baer told USA Today. In the cameo, the author, who has made brief appearances in other adapted works, “is just a citizen of Chester’s Mill for at least the moment.”

“He often does little cameos, a la Hitchcock, in his films, so we thought that would be really cool if he did it again.”
