Two men were arrested at Stewart Airport for illegally dumping construction debris. The men were arrested by Department of Environmental Conservation Officers (ECOs). The site of the dumping had been under surveillance for weeks by ECOs after information was received in August that 40-yard tandem trailer loads of solid waste were being dumped on Stewart Airport property each day.

The men who dumped the waste admitted to taking it from a recycling facility in the Bronx. They admitted to illegally dumping at least 120 cubic yards. The Stewart Airport site is part of a larger illegal dumping investigation. The men were transferred to New York State Police in Montgomery, and charged with misdemeanors after being interviewed and processed. The contractor who arranged the dumping is still under investigation.
