Twitter Board of Directors Disassembled, Elon Musk Takes the Helm

The 9-member Board of Directors of Twitter Inc. was dismantled on Oct. 27, a new filing shows.

Elon Musk now is the sole director of the social media platform.

“On October 27, 2022, and as a result of the consummation of the Merger, Mr. Musk became the sole director of Twitter. In accordance with the terms of the Merger Agreement, effective as of the effective time of the Merger, the following persons, who were directors of Twitter prior to the effective time of the Merger, are no longer directors of Twitter: Bret Taylor, Parag Agrawal, Omid Kordestani, David Rosenblatt, Martha Lane Fox, Patrick Pichette, Egon Durban, Fei-Fei Li, and Mimi Alemayehou,” read the filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Twitter was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Oct. 28 after Musk, Telsa CEO and a billionaire, took over.

Musk posted “The bird is freed” late Thursday night, and then “let the good times roll” a few hours later after the acquisition.

He took several moves to restructure the management including firing the CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal right after the takeover.

The new owner of Twitter also indicated several potential moves on the operation side.

He confirmed that Twitter will revise the user verification process and seems to suggest a paid model for the social media giant, which was in deep water because of reported censorship of conservatives and cooperation with the government in manipulating information.

“Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences,” Musk wrote on Twitter on Oct. 27 in a message titled “Dear Twitter Advertisers.”

Celebrities Threaten to Leave

Since Elon Musk completed his $44 billion Twitter takeover, some celebrities, mostly with leftist political viewpoints, have revealed that they plan to leave the platform.

Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes posted that she is “not hanging around for whatever Elon has planned. Bye.”

Toni Braxton posted that she’s “shocked and appalled at some of the ‘free speech’ I’ve seen on this platform since its acquisition.” The singer revealed that she is “choosing to stay off Twitter” as she believes it is “no longer a safe space for myself, my songs, and other POC.”

Jameela Jamil wrote that “One good thing about Elon buying Twitter is that I will *FINALLY* leave and stop being a complete menace to society.”

However, some conservatives said Musk’s takeover of Twitter is promising.

“The promise Musk brings here is the potential of eliminating the rampant biased political censorship that has taken place there and has been systemic throughout that entire organization,” Jason Sullivan, a social media and Twitter specialist and lead investigative consultant to former President Donald Trump’s legal team, told The Epoch Times. “If he’s successful, he’ll be a hero.”
