Twinkies return: The owners of Hostess will again start making Twinkies again, and it was reported that the popular food item will hit shelves in July.

Michael Cramer, executive vice president of Hostess Brands LLC, told NBC News that “we expect to be making and selling in July,” before adding that it will be “probably the later half of the month before the product hits the stores.”

On Thursday, Cramer said at a press conference at the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce that “I think we will be cranking them out here and a couple of other places around the country,” according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. Hostess produced some of its products at its factory in Columbus, Ga., before it stopped last year.

Hostess Brands recently sold Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, and others to private investment companies for $410 million.

This came months after Hostess was forced to shut down its plans over a worker strike.

“Over the past several months, we have invested significantly in Hostess and the Columbus facility we acquired,” Dean Metropoulos, the chairman and CEO of Hostess, told the Daily Caller. “We are focused on re-introducing the Hostess brands and bringing the Company’s high quality and beloved snack products back to American consumers.”
