Actress Chelsea Peretti announced on Twitter on Oct. 3 that she won’t be a “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” regular starting season 6, which was later confirmed by the comedy’s executive producer Dan Goor.

“I won’t be doing a full season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in Season 6. But that doesn’t mean I won’t ever be back, winky face emoji, heart emoji. I want to thank you for the hours you spent watching Gina be Gina,” Peretti wrote.

She also posted Emmy Rossum’s statement about the actress leaving “Shameless” for the next phase of her career, saying, “Perhaps Emmy Rossum said it best.”

Co-creator of“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” Dan Goor responded on Twitter and guaranteed fans that it would not be the last time they see Gina.

“She (Chelsea Peretti) has brought so much to her amazing, hilarious, unique portrayal of Gina Linetti, which is not surprising since she is one of the funniest people in history,” Goor wrote.

He continued, “We have tried really hard to create a storyline for her departure that lives up to a character who can only be described as ‘The human embodiment of the 100 emoji.’”

Although it’s sad to see Peretti leave, the producer said, “we’re so proud of Chelsea and excited for what she does next.”

Peretti has filmed 112 episodes on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” as a series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Before appearing on the comedy she was a guest star and writer on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.”

She’s the first original series regular to leave “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
