NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Shen Yun Performing Arts brought masterful dancing and thousands of years of traditional Chinese culture to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center on Feb. 25.

Michael Lester, a television director, and his wife, Amy, attended the performance. Mrs. Lester called Shen Yun “the best show I have ever seen.”

Mr. Lester said the Shen Yun dancers are very precise in their movements and “nothing is out of place.” He added, “Everything is right together—it is all perfect.”

“Everything is spot on—it is like you try to watch for somebody out of place ... they are right where they should be,” he added.

Classical Chinese dance, according to Shen Yun’s website, is one of the most extensive and elaborate dance forms in the world.

“I think it is amazing how you get that number of people doing the same thing at the same time,” Mr. Lester said.

The dance is difficult to master and requires a great amount of practice to get right, but is capable of expressing the inner meanings of Chinese culture, according to the company’s website.

“It is absolutely beautiful and the music is wonderful and the outfits—the costumes are just all different,” she said, referring to Shen Yun’s extensive and elaborate costuming. According to the company’s website, the costumes are inspired from several of China’s dynasties and ethnic groups.

The dancers, she said, “are all in sync ... are wonderful and I am just very impressed” with them.

‘Very precise’

Joseph Rembert, a student and professional martial arts and dance performer, attended the performance.

“It seems to be very inspirational and very passionate, full of passion,” he said of Shen Yun. He noted that the dancers are “very precise, very practiced, and I can tell they’ve had a lot of practice.”
