Former Buffalo coach Turner Gill is out at Kansas after just two seasons and a cumulative 5-19 record.

Said Kansas Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger in a statement Sunday, according to Kansas’s website, “After a thorough evaluation of our football program I have concluded that new leadership is necessary to place us on the path toward competing for championships in the Big 12 Conference. I come to this conclusion reluctantly, because I have the utmost respect for Turner Gill as a quality individual who wants only the best for the young men he coaches.”

Gill’s Jayhawks lost their final 10 games of the season, including all nine conference games, while their defense may have been the worst in the nation, ranking 120th in points allowed at 43.8 per game.
