Tucker Carlson says Michael Vick should be “executed.” Michael Vick may have faced his most serious public criticism yet regarding his conviction over being involved in a dogfighting ring several years ago.
Conservative Fox News pundit Tucker Carlson said this week that Vick should have been executed for his involvement in the ring. Vick ultimately served nearly two years in prison and now quarterbacks the high-powered Philadelphia Eagles offense, and is considered a candidate for league MVP.
“I've made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances. But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way,” Carlson said on Fox News. “And I think, personally, he should've been executed for that.”
The claim comes after President Barack Obama reported lauded the Philadelphia Eagles for signing Vick, an ex-convict, saying that it is important for businesses to try and give people who served time in prison a second chance.
According to Sports Illustrated, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie received a phone call from Obama about their decision to take Vick.
"He said, 'So many people who serve time never get a fair second chance. He was … passionate about it,” Laurie told Sports Illustrated. “He said it's never a level playing field for prisoners when they get out of jail. And he was happy that we did something on such a national stage that showed our faith in giving someone a second chance after such a major downfall.'”
Carlson said that he was angry over the phone call that Obama made to Lurie.
