Donald Trump says he is “working hard” on Thanksgiving to keep a Carrier air conditioning plant in Indianapolis, Indiana, open.
Earlier in 2016, the company announced that it would move its factory to Monterrey, Mexico, which would eliminate 1,400 jobs over the next three years.
Trump brought up the issue during his campaign and threatened Carrier’s executives. “If they’re going to fire all their people, move their plant to Mexico, build air conditioners, and think they’re going to sell those air conditioners to the United States, there’s going to be a tax,” he said.
Trump also released a video for Thanksgiving.
I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana). MAKING PROGRESS – Will know soon!

“Emotions are raw and tensions just don’t heal overnight,” the incoming president said in a video message released on the eve of the national holiday. He continued, “It’s my prayer that on this Thanksgiving we begin to heal our divisions and move forward as one country strengthened by shared purpose and very, very common resolve.”
