Trump: Reports Suggesting He’s ‘Angry’ at Wife Melania Over Midterm Results Are ‘Fake’

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday wrote that reports suggesting he’s angry about the outcome of the 2022 midterms, including one that claimed he lashed out at Fox News host Sean Hannity and former First Lady Melania Trump, are fake.

“For those many people that are being fed the fake narrative from the corrupt media that I am Angry about the Midterms, don’t believe it. I am not at all angry, did a great job (I wasn’t the one running!), and am very busy looking into the future. Remember, I am a ‘Stable Genius,’” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The former president then said he would “like to apologize” to Hannity and his wife for “ all of the Fake News and fictional stories” that were “made up out of thin air.”

“The Fake News Media is ‘Crazed’ and totally out of control,” Trump wrote. “I only wish the public could understand how really corrupt and crooked they are. They MAKE UP stories and then push them down your throats. Our Country is in big trouble!”

He made reference to a New York Times story from Maggie Haberman that cited anonymous sources in saying Trump was angry at his wife after Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz’s loss to Democrat John Fetterman in the Pennsylvania Senate race.

“There is a Fake Story being promulgated by third rate reporter Maggie Hagaman of the Failing New York Times, that I am blaming our great former First Lady, Melania, and Sean Hannity, that I was angry with their pushing me to Endorse Dr. Oz. First of all Oz is a wonderful guy who really worked hard and was a very good candidate, but he WAS LONG IN THE RACE before I ever Endorsed him, they had NOTHING to do with it,” Trump wrote.

It comes as some Republicans criticized the former president after some of his many endorsements didn’t pan out. Some advised the former president to delay an announcement that he’s planning for next week, although it’s not clear if it will be related to a possible 2024 bid.

“I’ll be advising him that he move his announcement until after the Georgia runoff,” said former Trump adviser Jason Miller, who spent the night with the former president at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. “Georgia needs to be the focus of every Republican in the country right now,” he told The Associated Press.

Trump, however, notched some significant wins Tuesday, particularly in Ohio, where his pick for the Senate, “Hillbilly Elegy” author JD Vance, sailed to an easy victory after Trump’s endorsement catapulted him to the front of a crowded primary pack. In North Carolina, Rep. Ted Budd, an early Trump pick, kept an open Senate seat in GOP hands.
