Unity is a tough sell in today’s political landscape. But that’s what President Donald Trump pursued during his State of the Union address Tuesday evening—and for a moment, he had it. Even some of his fiercest opponents stood up and erupted into applause when the president highlighted that more women are working now than ever before.

The celebration that filled the House chamber was well-earned. In 2018, women took the economy by storm. Female-owned businesses accounted for nearly 40 percent of all privately held firms, generating $1.8 trillion in revenue. Furthermore, these women-led enterprises are growing at a rate nearly five times that of businesses in general.

That’s a trend all Americans can unite behind.

Trump’s tax cuts and economic policies are giving women a leg up in today’s competitive economy. Those who want to continue down this path of prosperity in 2020 and beyond should remember the president’s words: “Don’t sit yet. You are going to like this.”
