Warnings have been issued for Puerto Rico and nearby places after a new tropical storm formed on September 4 south of the country.

The Dominican Republic has issued a tropical storm warning for the coast of the Dominican Republic from Cabo Engano to Cabo Frances Viejo.

Also, a tropical storm watch has been issued from Santo Domingo to Cabo Engano.

The entirety of Puerto Rico is under watch.

A warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area, in this case within the next 12 hours.

Three to six inches of rainfall is expected over portions of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Dominican Republic, with up to 10 inches possible in mountainous areas.

Also, winds of up to 35 miles an hour are expected.
