Burton scored touchdowns on all five rushing attempts and caught an 11-yard touchdown pass in the 48–14 victory. He rushed for 40 yards overall, threw a 42-yard pass, and caught five passes for 37 yards total.
Burton was just one touchdown short of scoring the national and SEC record of seven touchdowns in a game.
He also eclipsed Tim Tebow's SEC freshman record of five touchdowns in a game in 2007 against South Carolina.
“Unbelievable performance,” offensive coordinator Steve Addazio told the Associated Press. “Just great. You saw flashes of old there. His power and his running. He’s a football player.”
The fans and coaches alike at Florida Field probably were reminded of Tebow's one-man-show for the several years he was there.
