The New York Wheel opening in St. George on Staten Island 2016 has a new chief marketing officer. Travis Noyes will be responsible for promoting and activating the site of the world’s tallest observation wheel, developers BFC Partners announced.

Noyes will also serve as senior vice president of the nearby Empire Outlet retail center, which is also being developed by BFC Partners.

The 630-foot wheel on northeastern Staten Island will accommodate up to 1,440 people per ride and up to 30,000 people a day. The developers anticipate seeing over 4 million visitors a year.

Aside from maintenance and severe weather, the wheel will be open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and later on special occasions.

“This project will transform Staten Island’s North Shore into a world class destination for shopping, dining, sports and attractions,” stated  Don Capoccia, managing principal of BFC Partners.

Noyes is president of the Lower Manhattan Marketing Association and serves on the board of directors of Brooklyn Tourism and Big Apple Greeter. Noyes was previously senior vice president of marketing at New York Water Taxi and responsible for the launch of growth of New York Water Taxi and Circle Line Downtown, as well as Water Taxi Beaches.

“Credited with helping to shape and expand overall access to New York City’s waterfront and increasing connectivity between boroughs, Noyes activated hundreds of concerts, food festivals, special events and corporate events that played a crucial role in bringing New Yorkers and tourists to the City’s waterfront,” the companies said in a statement. “Under his leadership, New York Water Taxi’s overall revenue grew by 700 percent.”
