Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor Corp. has recalled its Lexus HS 250h hybrid luxury vehicle and halted all sales due to government tests showing that the vehicle could leak fuel in a rear-end collision, the company said. Toyota will recall a total of 17,000 vehicles and stop sales at all Lexus dealership in the United States.
The recall affects model-year 2010 vehicles. Toyota has said that its own tests failed to provide evidence that the car could leak fuel. The Lexus recall is the latest in a string of high-profile recalls dating back to late last year, most notably its 8 million global recall on sticky accelerator pedals, steering issues, and brake issues in a host of models.
