In Japan, Toyota is recalling about 600,000 vehicles spanning 11 models including the high-end Crown sedan, either for the master cylinder seal or defective fuel pump wiring or both. It is recalling 60,000 vehicles in China.

The Japan-based Toyota, which has had a reputation for affordable quality cars for several decades, has been stricken in the past year by a series of quality control issues causing huge recalls. The company’s ADR shares has fallen 25 percent year-to-date 2010.

“Owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail beginning in early November 2010,” said a statement from Toyota USA. “Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the brake master cylinder cup with a newly designed one at no charge to the vehicle owners.”
