A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for the greater Toronto metropolitan area, according to Environment Canada.
The storms will take place on Thursday afternoon and into the evening. There is also a possibility of large hail and fierce winds.
The agency added that “torrential downpours” can also be expected.
The watch affects Hamilton to near Ottawa.
The agency recommends that during thunderstorms, residents should stay away from items that conduct electricity and recommends people take shelter immediately.
