[xtypo_dropcap]T[/xtypo_dropcap]he Afghan detainees issue has come front and centre in Parliament once again after reports emerged that Canadian forces had transferred child soldiers to Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security, or NDS, which is known to use torture against detainees.

Opposition parties have pressed the government for details on the number of children transferred and if any inspections were made of facilities where they were detained. Prime Minister Stephen Harper told Parliament Wednesday that youth who attacked Canadian soldiers were detained in a special facility for juveniles.
