Tom Sherak’s widow Madeleine, who had been married to him for 46 years before his recent death, brought a crowd of about 1,000 mourners to tears when she recounted her husband’s final days.

“The ultimate gift he gave me was letting me know he was at peace with the life he had and was ready to move on,” she said, reported the Hollywood Reporter.

Sherak had a long career at 20th Century Fox and Revolution Studios, and also served as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts.

He died from prostate cancer on January 28.

Many Hollywood greats were at the funeral, including Amy Pascal, Alan Horn, and James Cameron.

After the ceremony family and friends went to Mt. Sinai Memorial Park in Simi Valley to shovel dirt on the casket.
