Thomas Foley, a former U.S. House Speaker, died at 84, according to reports on Friday.
Foley, who was from Washington state, served as a Democratic member of the House from 1965 to 1985.
He was the Speaker from 1989 to 1995.
The Spokesman-Review broke news of his death.
His wife, Healther, told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer of his death that he had been dealing with declining health.
He was born March 26, 1929, in Spokane, Wash.
