A mother is mourning the death of her toddler after a car accident in a Texas parking lot on June 2.

A mom is devastated after accidentally running over her 2-year-old daughter in the Clear Lake area, next to the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Houston Police attended the scene of the accident at an apartment complex off El Dorado at about 10 p.m. local time, according to KTRK.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead.

The mother maintains the accident was not intentional. Police understand the woman and her family members had been moving house when she became confused about the location of her daughter.

Police investigating the incident could not find any evidence to suspect the woman was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and have filed no charges at the time of publication.

Dog Struck in Florida

Other parts of the nation have been reeling from vehicle accidents, with a male driver being accused of intentionally running over a dog in Florida on May 30. The dog died that evening.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that suspect Robert Joseph Kayat, 29, was arrested on June 2 for questioning over the incident, which was caught on surveillance video.

The owner of the dog claims that Kayat swerved his white pickup truck toward the dog and struck it. The video shows the driver exiting the truck, nudging the dog with his boot and kicking it before driving off.

“A witness who drove up on the incident identified the driver as Kayat, who later contacted the Sheriff’s Office to meet with a deputy and provide his account of the incident,” the Sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

Kayat defended his actions, saying he only wanted to “spook” the animal.

“He intentionally swerved at the dog to spook it, not to run it over. He expressed remorse,” the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect was arrested on June 2, charged with the third-degree felony of animal cruelty and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail where his bond was set at $2,500.

Jail records list no lawyer for Kayat, according to the Associated Press (AP).

Post Office Incident in Illinois

Meanwhile, an Illinois woman has been charged with intentionally hitting a man and running over his parcels outside a Pennsylvania post office on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh Police confirmed that the 31-year-old victim was struck by a female driver, who them reversed and ran over his packages in the parking lot outside the post office.

The victim claimed that Elizabeth Noel Morrison, 27, of Avalon had stormed out of the Bloomfield post office just minutes earlier after he called her rude, according to AP.

Although nobody was injured, Morrison was charged with felony, aggravated assault by vehicle, criminal mischief, and vehicle code violations.

Court documents list no attorney for Morrison.
