DALLAS—The AT&T Performing Arts Center, Winspear Opera House, in Dallas was the venue for Shen Yun Performing Arts’ opening night of its 2012 World Tour on Friday, Dec. 16.

The New York-based Shen Yun has three equally large company’s that tour the world simultaneously, presenting a renaissance of traditional Chinese performing arts. Shen Yun was established in 2006 with the mission of reviving 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese culture.

Heather Pujats, group director-Central Texas at Tiffany & Co., was in the audience with husband, Andy.

“The color and the beauty of the show is amazing,” Ms. Pujats said.

“It’s inspiring. The colors are so vibrant; it’s breathtaking.”

She particularly enjoyed the “water sleeves” in which silken sleeves flow softly through the air, much like drifting ribbons in the breeze. Dances such as this with what Chinese call “water sleeves” are a favorite in classical Chinese dance. The sleeves’ patterns conjure an image of rippling water.

Andy said, “I liked the colors; I like the fans and the use of them.”

Ms. Pujats agreed, saying, “The use of the props is really amazing.”

Being a group director for a luxury goods and jewelery company, Ms. Pujats said she felt that the quality of the costume design and the backdrops was really high-end and “something that more people should see.”

Andy was also inspired by the message and lyrics of the songs, saying: “It’s all about inspiring to do better in life, personally, spiritually and for personal growth.”
