The tragic death of a 3-year-old boy has sent reverberations around the world after his pregnant mother paid tribute to him in a heartfelt post on social media.
Alby Fox Davis from Tasmania, Australia, was looking forward to his upcoming fourth birthday celebrations on Monday, Feb. 26. He was playing with a bouncy ball which had arrived earlier that morning for his party.
The unimaginable happened when the 3-year-old started choking — the ball had become stuck in his windpipe, preventing him from breathing.
Despite his pregnant mother’s frantic attempts to save him, he passed away within seconds in her arms.
On Tuesday, Alby’s mother Anna paid tribute to her “darling baby boy” in a heartbreaking post on Instagram the.small.folk to her 84,700 followers.
“Yesterday afternoon, our beautiful, beautiful Alby, our darling baby boy, grew wings and flew from this earth. Minutes pass like hours and the gaping hole in our lives and hearts is completely incomprehensible. We adore you beyond belief, our sweet little fox. Forever three, forever free,” the grieving mother wrote.
She followed up with another heartwrenching post showing Alby “with his brand new doona” only 40 minutes before the tragic incident where she thanked everyone for the overwhelming support that she received from all around the world.
“I can’t wait to go to bed tonight Mum!” Our precious boy, with his brand new doona cover, 2.49pm on Monday afternoon… exactly 40 minutes before he took his final earthside breath in my arms ? No words could ever express the depths of our gratitude for the outpouring of love we have received since our worst nightmare became our daily reality. During this time of immense grief, your thoughts, prayers, sympathy and tears have enveloped and uplifted us, and we could never thank you enough for your overwhelming generosity and support. Sweet Alby, forever three, forever free ?

A GoFundMe page set up to support the family has fundraised over $195,000 exceeding its $100,000 goal, as of March 2.
According to the crowdsourcing page, Anna is self-employed with her business, The Small Folk, while Alby’s father Simon is a relief teacher who is not entitled to any leave.
“We may live far away, even separated by oceans, but let us band together to help Anna and her family feel our love and presence during this time,” the page said.
Words will never be enough to thank this guy for the almighty sacrifices he has made over the past few months. Teaching by day, he then packs orders by my side through the night (sometimes literally ALL night… yes that’s why you received your shipping confirmations at 3am ?) simply to ease my workload and stress levels, during what has been an unfathomably busy time. Si, I could not do this life without you, nor would I ever want to. I love you so, so much ♥️
Anna and Simon are expecting their fourth child, reported The Mercury. Alby was the second child in the family.
