Officials on Oct. 26 identified three people found dead on Oct. 25 inside a Balboa Island residence in Newport Beach.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced the identity of the victims to be Andrew Adams and Desiree Temple of Yorba Linda, and Samantha Haiman of Riverside. Adams and Temple were both 43 years old, and Haiman was 45.

While the investigation is ongoing, Lt. Keith Krallman told reporters that illegal drugs are suspected to be the cause of death.

“There are illegal drugs suspected right now, and usually illegal drugs sometimes contain fentanyl,” Krallman said.

Along with the three deceased, police found another man injured in the home located near Diamond Avenue and Bay Front Alley South shortly after receiving a call at 8:32 a.m. on Oct. 25. The severity of his injuries remains unknown.

Multiple police units, including the Orange County hazardous materials response team, were seen outside the residence that afternoon, as nearby alleyways and Newport Harbor boardwalk remained closed to traffic.

The cause of death has not been confirmed, but investigators continue cautiously approaching the open case.
